So you can give freely to others
You have emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical needs that require your attention. By serving your needs first you can take better care of others.
When you learn to eat well, you then have the knowledge so you can teach others to eat well.
Rest on a regular schedule so you can work to your optimum. This pays off by allowing you to think and act quicker, and accomplishing more in your workday can turn into wonderful benefits.
Exercise and your body will grow strong. Your back will allow you to do more so you can carry your children easier, or improve your stamina so you can help others and be less dependent as you age.
Eating well, exercising, and being well rested will also reflect on your mood so you will be more cheerful and your family will benefit from your warmth.
You can benefit your emotional health further with other things too. Take the time to pray or meditate each day. Quiet your mind so you will be attuned to the problems of others. Listen with an empathetic ear but if / when you feel their negative energy invading your body, meditate or pray to release this. You can be more of a help if you do not absorb their problems as your own.
Take Time for Yourself
Look at your schedule and do some fine-tuning. Billet out the kids into car pools for events if you can. Set the alarm 20 minutes early so you can have that time to yourself. Get up, throw on a hoodie and go for a walk.
This is YOU time.
At night schedule the next day so your time isn’t spent ‘putting out fires’ and try this word on for size… “no”
What about a housekeeper and dropping your laundry off and having someone else doing it? How much does it really cost? Whats YOUR time worth?
Don’t answer the phone just because it rings. Begin scheduling phone calls, emails, bill paying, and other things. On a time that will be most efficient for you. Do them all at the same time, rather than sporadically throughout the day.
Prep all your meals at the same time. I like to spend Sundays prepping for the week, cook, freeze and portion out the meals. I enjoy popping in a movie and cooking up a storm – maybe a glass of wine too. If you wonder what I eat you are welcome to have a free copy of “Eat Healthy Lose Weight – The Ultimate 7 Day Diet”
How to be Happy With Yourself
I have read how self acceptance is a key to being happy but wonder if this is really true? Perhaps accepting our limitations and not feeling badly about not having exactly what others have but lets look a little closer at this.
Would we be happy if we just ‘accepted’ that we weren’t fit and healthy, or being paid top dollar at work? Is that really ‘acceptance’ or is it apathy or quitting?
Perhaps being happy might be better attained by ‘trying’ to be / do these things.
I’ve also read how a person should set attainable goals because its presumed a person is happy being able to reach those goals. But is that really true? Are you really happy picking the fruit up off the ground? Why not go for the one at the top – its the one that gets the most sun.
Happiness is a by product according to Earl Nightingale and I think he’s right. If you are working toward something you really want, and are living well (as in not stabbing someone in the eye with a fork to get what you want) – happiness happens.
Examples of comparison he has used are; how you feel going on a trip compared to coming home. Or, how kids are happiest before they open their presents as compared to how they are after.
If you truly desire to be fit and healthy – then be fit and healthy.
You can do all this just by putting yourself first and doing the things you need to do to live well and accomplish your goals.
