…way past New Years and the good intentions of getting fit THIS year have all but faded into the fog.
Whats keeping them alive now is we are seeing the promise of spring.
The sun is warmer, snow is melting and crocuses are peeping their pretty little heads out of the ground. Soon we will be in our summer clothing and showing more of our bodies to – well – everyone!
So the itch to take off that weight is still in your mind but so is the disappointment of not having stuck to the New Years resolution. Its a lot of work plus how does one really ensure they have a successful weight loss?
Weight Loss Success
Weight loss industry boasts a $50 billion / year revenue. The US stat’s say they spend over $100 billion in medically related costs due to obesity associated diseases. Plus the combination of weight loss drugs, surgeries and programs topple over the $315 billion…
And yet with all this money thrown at the topic of weight loss, the numbers of persons who are successful in comparison to the money spent is staggeringly low. But then again there are no real solid research numbers to back this up either. Apparently weight loss programs and fitness centers don’t really keep track – but the guess is less than 5% actually maintain their healthy weight loss and fitness regime 2 years after their initial success.
The average number of persons on a diet at any given time is around 40%.
This proves at the very least, losing weight is downright difficult!
Weight and Loss
How do you actually have a successful weight loss then? If all these statistics are almost proving you will fail, long before you even start, how can you possibly hope for success?
One way to help loss weight is before you start take the time to plan and prepare. Make the commitment and do it one day at a time. To be successful in anything, including weight loss, you need only have consecutive successful days.
What if this time you looked at it like each day was the only day you needed to live healthfully, eat well, exercise, and sleep well.
Rather than try to absorb the big picture all at once, which can be daunting to say the least, concentrate on being successful only today.
Measure your success by following best practices for your goal. Healthy, balanced diet of 5 – 6 snacks and meals a day. Cardio and strength training, restful sleep, plan tomorrow. And congratulate yourself at the end of each day on a successful day of completion.
I guarantee you – you will reach your goal – one day at a time.
How to Lose Weight Fast
The fasted weight loss method that will actually stick for the long term (that I am aware of) is the practical, healthy one.
Certainly there are programs that boast to lose 10lbs in a week, and no doubt some people do show a weight loss of 10lbs. But most likely much of that is water weight and it isn’t a probability that you can maintain that rapid weight loss for a continuous period.
Ask yourself “Do I want to be dieting again next year?”
If the answer to that is no then do a quick calculation to figure out how much weight you want to lose, and what is the practical time you would expect to lose it – based on a weight loss of 1 – 1.5 lbs a week.
Example you want to lose 50lbs then you can reasonably expect to be at your goal weight in 30 – 50 weeks, using a healthy diet you can stick to for life. The type of diet all healthy people live by. The kind that lets you eat in restaurants and doesn’t involve a lot of hoopla.
Your exercise would need be only moderate and not any crazy bone bending activities.
Will you commit to this?
If you do, you will never diet again.
